Come and enjoy the “Boun Pimai Lao” (Lao New Year Festival) or “Boun Hod Nam” (Watering Festival). The most interesting Lao New Year Festival occurs in Luang Prabang Province from 12th-16th April 2010.

It features a beauty contest for the crowning of Miss Pimai or “Nang Sang Khane” on 12th – 13th April. On 14th April, in the morning, there is local fair “Talad Nad” on the street from the Post Office to the Old Stadium.

In the afternoon, people go to the river beach of Ban Xiengmen on the right side of the Mekong River to make the sand stupa and enjoy watering each other there. On the 15th, there will be a cortege of Nang Sang Khane locally called “Hai Vor” from Vat That Noi to Vat Xieng Thong on the main street of Luang Prabang and the return cortege will be on the 16th April.
